QQI (Quality and Qualifications Ireland) is a state agency established by the Qualifications and Quality Assurance (Education and Training) Act 2012 with a board appointed by the Minister for Education and Skills.
Our functions include those previously carried out by the Further Education and Training Awards Council (FETAC); the Higher Education and Training Awards Council (HETAC); the Irish Universities Quality Board (IUQB) and the National Qualifications Authority of Ireland (NQAI).
This course is designed to equip the learner with the academic knowledge and practical skills necessary for working in a healthcare team.
- It is a stand-alone qualification for employment as a Care Assistant/Healthcare Worker
- It can also be used as a route to 3rd Level Education
This course offers the student the opportunity to work in a variety of Healthcare environments: Nursing Homes, Hospitals, Home-help and in Community based practices. This course also offers the opportunity to progress to 3rd Level colleges in Ireland.
This course is an introduction to Nursing and will benefit anyone wishing to enter the Nursing profession using a QQI qualification. It is recognised by Universities and Institutes of Technology in Ireland and in the UK. Essential skills in nursing care are taught by a registered nurse and students gain practical experience in the workplace during the Work Experience module in a Nursing/Care environment.
Graduates can work in a variety of healthcare settings as a Healthcare Assistant. This course offers the student the opportunity to apply to Nursing Degree courses both here in Ireland and in the UK. It also affords the opportunity for students to work in a variety of healthcare environments as a Healthcare Assistant.
Office Administration (level 5 or 6)
This advanced one year programme has been developed to enable the learner to acquire the required knowledge, skill and competence to work independently or in a supervisory capacity in an administrative role in the private, public or voluntary sector and or to progress to higher education or training.
Learners who successfully complete the programme will develop their knowledge and understanding of the IT management process and acquire the skills necessary to function as productive users of computer systems.
Early Childhood Care and Education
Evening courses are also offered under the Back to Education Initiative, level five and level six This course is designed primarily for adults who wish to work in the area of childcare.
The QQI is the statutory awarding body for further education and training in Ireland. QQI makes quality assured awards that are part of the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) from levels 1-6. Meeting learner needs is central to the work ofQQI.
